Jeff Wordeman

Vice Principal, PE and Coach

Jeff Wordeman is in his 10th year as St. Mary’s PE Teacher, and 5th as Assistant Principal. Jeff has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 27 years and they have two children, Jeremiah (24) and Mattie (19).  Jeff is a native of Cheyenne, but spent many years in Oregon, where he was a police officer.  He moved back to Cheyenne in 2003, where he continued his career in the criminal justice field as a fingerprint analyst for 6 years.

After much prayer and long discussions, Jeff and his wife agreed it was time for him to make a change, so Jeff followed his passion to become a PE teacher and started pursuing his dream in 2012 at the University of Wyoming.  He graduated from UW in the spring of 2015 and is blessed to be teaching at St. Mary’s Catholic School.

When he’s not teaching, Jeff is likely to be found coaching some sport.  Jeff is passionate about every aspect of football, from coaching (21 years) and watching to playing (3 years of high school and 2 years of Semi-Professional in Oregon) and even owning his own semi-professional team (4 years).  Jeff is in his 4th year of coaching football at Johnson Junior High.  He also has coached middle school girl’s and boys’ basketball, girl’s and boys’ elementary basketball, as well as elementary volleyball and track.

His passion for teaching physical education is to help kids enjoy being active by introducing a variety of lifetime skills and activities that students can enjoy as they get older. He has introduced archery, a climbing wall, rollerblading, and the Learn to Ride Program to Saint Mary’s students to help achieve these goals.
