Teaching presents so many rewards. It is especially wonderful when I see a child who has been struggling in a subject suddenly “get it!” I enjoy teaching in the parochial school setting because of the community and family atmosphere that is ever present here. It is so nice to work at St. Mary’s where God is the center of everything we do. The staff and teachers make it a pleasant and caring place to come each day!
Experience:The school year 2016-17 is my 17th year of teaching elementary and my eighth year at St. Mary’s Catholic School. Prior to coming to St. Mary’s, I taught for several years in the Archdiocese of Denver.
Education: Bachelor of Arts – Colorado Christian University; Masters in Special Education – University of Northern Colorado
ABOUT OUR CLASSROOM
Fourth graders at St. Mary's study Wyoming history, which includes several related field trips. Each year we attend the Laramie County AG Exposition. We visit the legislature, and sometimes we have even had a visit with the Governor. Fourth graders visit the Historical Governor's Mansion, and each Spring, we take a trip to Ft. Laramie. Our studies of Wyoming history are enhanced with trunks from the State Museum.
Both fourth and fifth grades use Reading Street by Pearson. This consists of reading skills, spelling, grammar, and writing. We enhance our reading with novels.
We use Loyola Press for religion class. Our children participate in monthly service projects which include helping Needs, Home Away From Home, Wyoming Coalition for Homeless, Catholic Charities, and filling the St. Joseph Food Bank. Our students also make seasonal crafts for the parish shut-ins.
